“ If you are looking for a place to get a fresh lunch and dessert, Rise + Roam is place to go. My best friend and I were lucky to encounter this place on a rainy day. It was spacious with lots of lighting from the glass windows. They also had a kitchen in the back, a coffee bar, and of course, the bakery display with fresh mouth-watering, pastries. The service was lovely, the barista was very nice and patient while we were trying to decide which pastry to get because we wanted all of them. We went ahead and got the following: Drinks: - earl grey milk tea: automatically gets (5/5) for using Numi (my favorite organic brand of tea), and almond milk. My best friend said it was delicious. - hot latte: It was wonderful to enjoy on a rainy day. I got it decaf because it was now lunch time. Food: - We split a gluten free pepperoni pizza. It was very fresh with the thin gluten free crust. It also had the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese and pepperonis. There was no picture because we devoured it very quickly. - carrot ginger cake (gluten free) - this was surprisingly delicious it had carrots, ginger, cinnamon and cloves (?) it reminded me of a carrot cake - Berry danish - I loved the custard cream and the fresh berries that this danish came with, it was expecting it to be more flakier, buttery, and more crisp but It was still very good and I loved it. We spent the day looking at the rain outside the window, enjoying the food, pastries and drinks and chatting about life. It was a nice place to go. I want to go back. ”

“ We stopped by for breakfast one morning and ordered 3 items from the bakery case. Seasonal scone (mixed berry scone) - it was delicious Sausage frittata (warmed) - this was savory and delicious, with a little bit of veggies mixed in Morning bun (warmed) - instead of a flaky croissant like texture on the inside, theirs is a light fluffy bread texture. I liked it a lot! G still prefers the more traditional flaky type morning buns but said it's still good ”

“ If you go anywhere in this area, you have to go to Rise + Roam! Their baked goods are to die for. I got their seasonal scone (blackberry) and carrot ginger muffin. The scone was perfect - not to crumbly and right amount of sweetness and fruit, and the muffin was well balanced. My friends got their jalapeño cheddar scones and those were great too. I am interested in their Toffee Brown Butter Potato Chip Cookie just because of the name but maybe next time Heads up, they are super busy and it took us at least 20 mins in line to order. ”

“ If you're ever in the Carmel by the Sea area and looking for a bite to eat, make a stop at Rise + Roam. Place your order at the counter and try to not get too distracted with all of the fresh baked pastries behind the glass. They have soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza, beer, wine, coffee and pastries. We've gotten food to go, but most recently, we dined inside. Decent sized dining room where you can help yourself to silverware, cups of water, napkins, etc. They even have a kids menu if you have picky eaters like we do. The pizza.... YES, we couldn't wait to eat and all burned our mouths on the first bite! Delicious, especially how the house-made san marzano tomato sauce and dough just makes the toppings a bonus. Their tomato bisque is rich and creamy if you wanted something warm on a cold day. What we've done in the past is order a couple of sandwiches and a salad to go and made our way down to Carmel Beach. I believe their menu changes slightly depending on the seasons so take a look at their menu board and see if there's anything that catches your attention. ”

“ What a (not so) hidden gem! The pastries here are AMAZING! I wish we tried more (and probably will next visit)!! We had the strawberry cheese cake cruffin, potato chip chocolate chip cookie, and lemon kouign Amman. Everything was so good. I loved the signs that recommended food tasting better when warmed, like some of the savory croissants. I think the baked goods outshined the coffee but loved the whole vibe of the shop. Will definitely have to visit again! ”

“ My friends and I went to downtown Carmel after point lobos for lunch. It must have been an off season because everything was closed, so we were happy to discover Rise & Roam. It has a very charming look, both inside and outside and it's hard to ignore the plethora of delicious looking pastries as you first enter. They also have a great food menu with vegetarian options and easy to make vegan options with some modifications. I tried the veggie sandwich without cheese and it was amazing. The bread was so fresh and wholesome, not to mention that it was toasted to perfection with an audible crunch in every bite. The veggies were so fresh and juicy and I especially loved the micro greens. We all shared a chocolate cookie that was easily one of the most decadent deserts I've ever tried. I could taste both chocolate and hints of espresso which set it apart from other chocolate cookies. I couldn't stop eying the giant cinnamon rolls...next time... This bakery can be pricey, but where isn't in California (esp Carmel)?! It's worth the splurge if you're enjoying the area! ”

“ We stumbled upon this place while walking around downtown Carmel. The interior is nice and cozy, with plenty of tables. You order at the cashier and get your plate brought to you. Servers were friendly. We ordered the Little Piggy (pizza with ham and sausage). Took a bit of time to get our order but that means it was freshly made. Overall enjoyed the pizza and it was enough for 2 people. I can't wait to try their baked goods! ”

“ Stopped in here for a quick pastry. This review is purely going to be based on what we decided to get, and I will say many of the pastries looked phenomenal so I would 100% come back to try more. We ordered the Raspberry Cheesecake Cruffin. Intrigued me so I had to try it. What I loved was the creativity and the beauty of this thing. The pastry wasn't quite as crisp as I'd want something resembling a croissant to be, however, I suspect it's because of the cream cheese mascarpone filling. It was PACKED with filling. Rich, tasty and absolutely shareable. The filling was a little too rich for me, it was very much a meal, but it could have used a little more raspberry flavor. I would have gave this a 10/10 if the filling was a whipped raspberry mascarpone cream cheese, or maybe a raspberry jam core in the cream cheese.. Something to bring more of the fruit and freshness forward. Again, so many options here. I would absolutely try the seasonal Kouign Amann next time and some of the bars looked beautiful. Overall, friendly staff, quick ordering and lots of seating in the cafe and the pizzeria side of the house. ”

“ Came here a few days ago on a Tuesday for breakfast with 2 other friends, we wanted a quick bite to eat before going on a short hike. My order: leek gruyere egg croissant and an arnold palmer. I actually came back later today to get the revival bee's knees ice cream bar. Cost: for the leek gruyere egg croissant and the arnold palmer it was $17 after tax, the revival bees knees ice cream bar was $9. Pros: - Really delicious croissant that can fill you up as a nice breakfast, if you're like me and don't typically eat a huge breakfast. The croissant was very well done and fluffy. - Arnold palmer tasted exactly as it should ($4.50) - Self-serve ice water in the eating area (was very helpful in refilling our waterbottles before the hike) - clean bathroom - lots of sitting space to eat on a weekday - quick and easy service - lots of fun dog-watching Cons: - parking can be tricky if you're coming on a weekend - only one bathroom - honestly, a little pricier than I would like. more than $4 for an arnold palmer feels quite expensive to me - the ice cream bar from revival is WAY too expensive. I thought they overcharged me when they accidentally charged me for an ice cream sandwich but then mine was somehow a dollar more for a total of $9?? that's insane. Way too expensive. Overall, the taste of the croissant is what kept this at a 4 stars for me. I wouldn't mind coming back but I think I would skip the ice cream and the drinks. ”
